What sort of app do you need?
If you need to control Zoneminder from the app
You unfortunately don't have too many options:
- Use ZM's web interface directly - use either the classic or flat skin. As of March 2015, the mobile skin seems incompletely implemented. The disadvantage of the classic/flat screen is every tap results in a new browser window. The mobile skin keeps every thing in one screen, but it does not implement various screens (such as events :p)
- It seems there was/is an app called EyeZM. It does not seem to exist in the app store at all for iOS (US). So I never got to try it
- There is another app called ZMView. The good part is it works. The bad part is its very unattractive. If you like good UX, this app has a long way to go. I'd also recommend you buy the "pro" version for $3.99. I like supporting developers and it also takes away the ads at the bottom. It also has an Android version.
If you only need to monitor your cameras and directly perform operations on them (and not ZM)
I am an Apple user, so I can't speak for Android, but I'll say this:
- There is absolutely no app that comes close to TinyCam Monitor. It's slick, very fast, and feature rich. I saw it with a friend and was hugely impressed
- For iOS my app of choice is something called BabyMonitor. Its by the same folks who make Tinycam, but its more limited, but still the best
- I've also bought and used Foscam Pro, LiveCams Pro and a bunch of others that I don't even remember. LiveCam pro was not bad and I used it for 3 years till I discovered Baby Monitor and found it to be better/faster/prettier
